Periyar(Thekkady)

Weather: 

March to May (Summer) - it can be hot during this time, but dry weather is perfect for spotting some animals. You can plan your tour around the season.

June to September (Monsoon) - is not an ideal time for safari, though the scenic beauty is truly captivating. You will enjoy it if you love nature views.

Oct to Feb (Winter) - is an ideal time to explore the park in full glory. The boat ride in the river is magical, and you will love the adventure.

How to reach:

Airways

You can take a flight to Madurai airport - the nearest one to Periyar. Once you reach the airport, you can book a cab to reach the park. Alternatively, you can take a flight to Cochin International Airport and then take a cab.

Railways

You can take a train to Kottayam, the nearest railway station. Periyar is 110 km away from the station. Take a cab to reach the place.

Roadways

You can book a private cab from Munnar or Kochi. Periyar is well connected by road, and you can also take state transport buses from any region of Kerala.

The best time to visit:

Oct to May is the best time to visit the park. You will be able to spot most animals during the peak season.
